Night of the Oud

Night of the Oud — original painting by Nourhan Salama

Four dancers raise their arms in unison, their skirts sweeping in waves of silver, ivory and smoke, while a musician in a red tarboush and dark glasses plays the oud beside them. A shadowy figure watches from the edge. The warm, textured background glows like candlelight on old walls. Joyful and nostalgic, it brings to life the music, rhythm and celebration of an Egyptian evening.
