The Whirling Dancer

A dancer spins with one arm raised to the sky, her skirt opening into a whirl of sapphire, rust and silver strokes. Long golden spears hang on one side, and ornate lanterns in plum and rose hang on the other. The background is a richly crumpled, plaster-like texture of cream and copper. The painting turns movement into ritual, like a moment from an ancient celebration.
